Barcode with TAB between fields

I would greatly appreciate any feedback on how to make this work... can't seem to figure it out on my own. I'm trying to create barcoded employee id cards that allow them to quickly log in to our reservation software with a quick scan of their personalized barcode. The barcode needs to be able to tab between two fields (their username & password) and then return. We are using Honeywell MS9540 scanners and I have tried creating both Code 128 and 39 barcodes without success. I set the scanner to full ASCII and used $I in the code 39 barcode without success.

Operating System: Windows 7

Application: Campground Master

Encoding functions such as a tab is dependent on the barcode type (Code 128, Code 39) and the type of barcode product (barcode application, barcode font).

I will provide examples for Code 128 image and font. To learn about the Difference Between Barcode Fonts and Barcode Images.

APPLICATION/COMPONENT
In IDAutomation applications (Image Generator, Label Software) that generate images, Code 128 is the default setting. If it is not set, there are two properties to ensure it is set: SymbologyID and Code128CharacterSet.

• Set SymbologyID or Symbology to Code 128.
• Set Code128CharacterSet to Auto.
• Set ApplyTilde to True/Enabled/1/Yes
• Encode a tab or function using ~ character with ASCII value. An example to encode a tab is ~009.

Example using Image Generator:

BARCODE FONT
To generate a scannable Code 128 barcode using a font, a tool also called a font encoder must be used to format the data. To encoder is what determines the character set for Code 128.

• Use the Code 128 (Auto) function/formula.
• Set ApplyTilde to True/Enabled/1/Yes It is usually a parameter in the function.
• Encode a tab or function using ~ character with ASCII value. An example to encode a tab is ~009.

Example using Excel:

The third parameter in this formula is set to True (this is the ApplyTilde parameter for IDAutomation's Excel formula.

NOTE: The data in cell A1, is the encoded data after the font encoder is used. The barcode font must be applied to the data.

CODE 39 EXAMPLE FOR BARCODE FONT AND IMAGE PRODUCT

To encode functions for Code 39, set:

• Set the scanner to read Full ASCII or Extended 39.
• Encode the tab using $I based on Code 39 Extended chart.

EXAMPLE USING FONT: *UserName$IPassword*
