The Extended Fonts allow the user to enter the desired character. Here is an example of the difference between Encoding Extended Characters using Standard Code 39 Fonts and Encoding Extended Characters using Extended Code 39 to encode the data abcd@

Encoding Extended Characters using Standard Code 39
1. Set the scanner to Extended Code 39
2. Encode abcd@ as *+A+B+C+D%V*

Encoding Extended Characters using the Extended Code 39
1. Set the scanner to Extended Code 39
2. Encode abcd@ as *abcd@*

With the Extended fonts, the data can be entered directly without using the slash, plus, and percent characters to create the desired data.

Thanks, but how do I know that paying $130 will fix my problem? If I look at the extended table it just mentions the "/" as a control character, it doesn't show it as being a character that is read as "/"?

We are currently using Wasp barcode software, but it is no longer supported and wanted to find the best package that would accommodate the special characters. I am in charge of creating and controlling all the barcode scan sheets within the plant and without the extended version the regular 39 version is useless. Why is the extended version not free, because it is newer? Or because that is what everyone uses and needs, so to get what they need to fit their application, they have to purchase it?
