This is my very first post here :)

For many years I've been creating small asset labels (50mm x 25mm) containing descriptive text and an incrementing number & barcode. I've been using my Gerber Edge FX with Omega RIP software - all worked really well BUT, my Edge FX printer isn't printing too well at the moment! So I decided to try my fairly new Roland BN-20 solvent printer.

Roland Solvent Printers use the well know Versaworks RIP software but this has no facility for producing barcodes! It does allow one to use variable data - e.g. incrementing numbers.

I thought I'd be able to use the IDAutomationCode39 font to produce a barcode from the incrementing number - the final printed output looks perfect BUT, the barcode won't scan!

I've tried prefixing/suffixing the number with the * character, and I've tried different sizes of the font but I can't find a way to produce a barcode that will successfully scan :(

I'm using the 'free' font but would gladly pay for a font that would provide a scannable barcode.

Any help is appreciated.

Ben	Best Answer What font size is Code 39 printed at? Depending on the printer, Code 39 requires specific font sizes. 203 DPI Printer (thermal printer) 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36... 300 DPI Printer 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36... Verify the amount of data encoded remains under 20-23 characters. Verify the barcode font is not converted to an image such as a GIF or JPEG.
