USPS imb container barcodes generated with Code-128 font not passing USPS approval


We are attempting to create tray label tags for usps IMB full-service mailings. We submitted some samples created with the Code-128C font we purchased from IDAutomation, but the decodability apparently is only getting a passing grade of "C". Their remarks were :

"The decodability has to have a passing grade of B.
The average of the labels was less than a B.
The report states that the bar patterns are inconsistent. "

We generate our tag samples by using a PDF template and printing on a laserjet printer. Can you think of any reason the font will not pass USPS tray label testing?

There are a few issues you can check:

• Verify the Code 128 symbology standard is printed to specifications.

• The PDF conversion can affect the barcode; test by printing directly to the printer.

• Print barcode at appropriate XDimension (font size).
