Intelligent Mail is a term used for a select number of barcode types for the USPS. There is a difference between the IMpb (Intelligent Mail Packing Barcode) and the IMb (Intelligent Mail Barcode). The is also an Intelligent Mail Container, IM Container.


Intelligent Mail Packing Barcode is a barcode type that uses the Code 128 barcode symbology. For specifications from the USPS, please view the IMpb document.

Intelligent Mail Barcode (Tracing)
is a barcode type that looks similar to Postnet. It uses the USPS Intelligent Mail barcode type. For additional specifications from the USPS, please view the IMb document.

Intelligent Mail Container
is a barcode type that uses the Code 128 Barcode symbology. For additional specifications from the USPS, please view the IM Container document.
