Barcode does not appear in Oracle Reports on Red Hat LINUX

I'm testing barcode fonts downloaded from:
https://www.idautomation.com/barcode-fonts/code-128/download/

I'm on LINUX (Red Hat) and used this tutorial:
https://www.idautomation.com/font-encoders/oracle-reports/fonts-on-unix/

The barcode does not appear, only the text is displayed. The PLL for the barcode isn't necessary, is it? Does anybody use barcodes from IDAutomation with Oracle Reports? And with the PLL or Java Bean?

Thanks a lot and best regards.

The PLL is required to encode the data while the font applied to the encoded data displays the barcode. If you are running Oracle 9i and up, the Java Component is an option.

Thank you for your fast answer!
Yes, the font is displayed in the font list. The problem is, that I create the report on a Windows client and there the barcode worked (without pll). On the application server (Red Hat) the report will generate as a pdf file. If the pll library is necessary, I will test this again.

Do you recommend generating the barcode with fonts and not with Java Bean Code?

Thank you!

Is the Code 128 font an option to select within your application's font list? The font may appear as a barcode or you may see the font name IDAutomationSC128 (using demo) or IDAutomationC128 (using sale).

Verify the font is installed. If the font is not installed, refer to your Red Hat version's instructions for installing custom fonts.

The PLL is designed to format the data before the barcode font is applied; it is required. Once the data is encoded and the barcode font is applied, the barcode should be scannable.

If you are able to view the barcode on screen in a report but not when it is converted to PDF, then there is an issue with the application embedding the font. In this case, you must verify that your application is properly embedding the font using the procedures developed by Oracle.
