How do we encode the FNC1 character and GS1 Data Matrix barcode using Crystal Reports?


We are trying to generate a 2d Data Matrix compliant with GS1 using your Data Matrix Font Package. The matrix created scans and seems to work but it is not the same as the Data Matrix supplied to us by our customer.

How do we encode the FNC1 character and GS in the barcode? This is what we are using:

Dim DataToEncode as string
dim CompleteBarcodeString as string
Dim i as Number
dim Segments as number


DataToEncode = "(01)12365478965412(10)10068200"

CompleteBarcodeString = ""

i=0

Segments = IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMSet(DataToEncode,1,4 ,4 )

For i =0 to Segments

CompleteBarcodeString = CompleteBarcodeString + IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMGet(i)

Instead of surrounding the AIs with parentheses, use ~1 before the AIs that require an FNC1/GS.

Dim DataToEncode as string
dim CompleteBarcodeString as string
Dim i as Number
dim Segments as number


DataToEncode = "~10112365478965412~11010068200"

CompleteBarcodeString = ""

i=0

Segments = IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMSet(DataToEncode,1,4 ,4 )

For i =0 to Segments

CompleteBarcodeString = CompleteBarcodeString + IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMGet(i)
