I need to create Data Matrix barcodes in Crystal Reports using Data Matrix fonts. I looked at the manual but I am confused because I do not understand the parameters. Can you help me out?

PRE-AUGUST 2015 SOLUTION

This solution is for users that have the Data Matrix version prior to the August 2015 update.
· Advantage Package Update
· Windows Package Update

For users that have purchased the Data Matrix Package dated 8-2015 or later, view the Updated Procedure.

It is possible to generate Data Matrix barcodes in Crystal Reports using the instructions:

1. Download and install the Data Matrix Font Package .

2. Open Crystal Reports and create a formula field.

3. Ensure that the syntax is set to Crystal Syntax.

4. Place the following code into the editor.
* In this example, the data value is 12345678.
___________________________________________________________
stringVar DataToEncode:= "12345678";
stringVar CompleteBarcodeString:="";
numberVar i:=0;
numberVar Segments:= IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMSet(DataToEncode,0 ,0 ,0 );
For i:=0 to Segments Do
(
CompleteBarcodeString := CompleteBarcodeString + IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMGet(i);
);
CompleteBarcodeString

PARAMETERS
IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMSet(DataToEncode,0 ,0 ,0 )

The DataMatrix encoder for Crystal Reports takes in four parameters.
IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMSet(DataToEncode,0 ,0 ,0 )

DataToEncode is the data to convert to the barcode (it can be a field, hard coded value, or both).
(first parameter)

ProcessTilde When set to 1, the tilde (~) may be used to recognize some special characters in the input data. For example, ~d009 generates the TAB
(second parameter)

EncodingMode
(third parameter)

PreferredFormat
(fourth parameter)

5. Save and close.

6. Place the field on your report.

7. To ensure that the encoded data is fully displayed, expand the field.

8. Select the field and apply the IDAutomationDMatrix (or the IDAutomation2D.ttf) barcode font.

NOTES:
To encode RS, GS, EOT, TABS, RETURNS and other functions, set ApplyTilde/ProcessTilde to 1 (the second parameter). Place a ~d in front of the value. For example,

to encode the RS, use ~d030
to encode the GS, use ~d029
to encode a TAB, use ~d009

It is also possible to encode these characters using CHR().

This example will produce a Data Matrix that produces a TAB between 4 and 5:
stringVar DataToEncode:= "1234" & CHR(9) & "5678";
