Encode GS1 DataMatrix Barcodes Using FileMaker Font Encoder Plugin

I have been trying to encode a barcode for GS1-DataMatrix using the FileMaker Font Encoder Plugin. When scanned on a GS1 reader, the FNC1 is not found.

Does the FileMaker Font Encoder Plugin encode GS1-DataMatrix?

Operating System: Mac OS X

Application: FileMaker

The Data Matrix Barcode Font is fully capable of producing GS1-DataMatrix barcodes.

After much research, it seems as though the FNC1 functionality was not implemented in the font encoder itself (the DataMatrix FileMaker Font Encoder Plugin). We apologize for any inconvenience.

Another option, which does generate the proper FNC1 using both the Tilde or Parentheses methods, is to stream a barcode directly to FileMaker.

Using the demo streamer, one could enter this hyperlink to produce a GS1-DataMatrix barcode, with the various parameters.

I tried that option too, and it did not work.

I used photoshop to lay the barcode on top of the barcode given from GS1 standards, and they both look the same visually.

However, when I look at the structure of the filemaker generated barcode, it looks differently.

please see attached picture

Is there a way to add ]d as non printable character before the AI number?

otherwise I don't know what else could it be.

please see the results of the test here

Thank you so much for your help.

Try using the Tilde Method, instead of using parentheses.

Example with Application Identifiers (AIs) in bold:

· Instead of: (01)345678901234515171231
· Try: ~101345678901234515171231

Thank you James,

I did infact added the Process Tilde,

as it shows in the picture, but I am not sure if the picture is showing

this is what it looks like

IDDM_EncDM( (01)0083030200003910406(17)141030371|1|3 )

as you can see at the end the ProcessTilde is enabled

when I use the ASCII decoder this is what it looks like:

010083030200003910406<GS>141030371

the barcode is scanned using a INTEGRA 95xx and it does not find FNC1

Referring to the section 2D Font Functions of the FileMaker Font Encoder Manual, it is important to enable ProcessTilde in the 2nd function argument (this is the example from the function table, with the relevant part in bold):

IDDM_EncDM("(01)" & Field_1 & "|1|3")

Enabling ProcessTilde will allow the encoder to recognize the data with the GS1 formatting.
