Bank Analysis Reports MICR Font Magnetic Dimension Signal Issue

A MICR Qualifier test from our bank reports that the magnetic dimension signal of several MICR E-13B characters are outside of the allowable nominal signal range. We are using the IDAutomation MICR Font:

This issue may occur if the printer or printer driver prints images darker or lighter, with more or less intensity than the average printer. This issue has been known to produce unrecognized and illegal characters as well as dimension errors. In addition, some printers reproduce characters differently.

The first step in solving this issue is to try a lighter or bolder version of the font. For example, if the test reports the characters are too large or too bold, try a lighter version font. If you are using the font IDAutomationMICR, according to the chart on the additional details tab, try IDAutomationMICR L or IDAutomationMICR XL.

This issue may also be caused by any of the following:
- Incorrect MICR toner.
- Defective printer drum.
- The printers' internal print intensity settings may be out of calibration.
- A corrupt printer driver.
- Print driver settings – changing the options such as “Print TrueType as Graphics” has solved this issue in some cases. Many print drivers also include print intensity settings.
