Problem with older version of .NET Barcode Linear Forms Control dll, idautomation.linearbarcode.dll version 7.11.0.0 (2008), that don´t work as it should in Win7 Professional

Hello! I have a C#.NET application, a barcode label print application, that currently uses idautomation.linearbarcode.dll, version nr 7.11.0.0 (developer license purchased in 2008), to generate barcodes in a print document.

Initially, the application was developed on Win XP Pro. After upgrading to Win 7 Pro SP1, combined with Lexmark Universal v.2 print driver, barcode generation does not work anymore and ends up with a System.ArgumentNullException - error. The reason is that the MetaFile class object, which is used as a container for generated barcode pictures, fails to be correctly registered at runtime (globally declared as System.Drawing.Imaging.Metafile BarcodeImage).

I have of course tested a lot of other print drivers too, both Lexmark printer-specific ones and Microsoft corresponding drivers, but the same bad result remains.

So my question now is if some of IDAutomation:s newer versions of this barcode dll hopefully can solve my current print problem.

Sincerely!

Hello!
First, sorry for the late response with complementary info on this issue. Based on Ben:s rapid answer I downloaded the demo version and installed it in another test project with identical source code. A couple of tested approaches later I discovered that the latest dll version still remained not working.

To solve the problem I needed to do some source code changes, for example, to substitute the original container Metafile object with a corresponding Bitmap object (declared as System.Drawing.Bitmap BarcodeImage) that also resulted in the use of .BMPPicture as a subroutine return object instead of the former .Picture one. Attribute differences in the latest dll also led to some minor changes from former float to int data types for attributes like left and top margin, LeftMarginCM = 0, etc.

And finally after reasonable hours of work, success =D
