2d Barcodes In Mail Merge Do Not Look Correct

We are using your QR Code Font Package (one of the 2D fonts mentioned), specifically in Excel and Word. The font name we are using is IDAutomation2D.ttf.

We have read your tutorials extensively (very informative) and understand the following:

1. 2D (QR Code, DataMatrix, PDF417, Aztec, and Maxicode) barcodes will not display correctly in Excel (because of an Excel glitch) but will still encode correctly, using the free VBA Font Encoder.

2. We have to perform a mail merge from Excel to Word to see them correctly, because of #1.

3. We understand that it is a good idea (as a preventative measure) to use Excel's SUBSTITUTE function to eliminate the _x000D_ issue that may occur in the mail merge.

4. The system is set to "English" and the 1252 Latin-1 codepage since we do not use double-byte character sets (like Japanese, Chinese, and Korean), so we do not have to use the Universal Fonts.

Given all the above, we are merging test data (123456789012) and get the following results (the top part is the encoded text, and below is the barcode when the barcode is applied to the encoded text):

* Left justified:

* Centered:

So, it seems something is affecting the data from Excel to Word. What can we do?

Operating System: Windows

Application: Excel, Word

When Excel data does not retain its formatting in mail merge operations in Word, it typically is due to the connection type being used in the mail merge.

For further instruction, follow the options in the Microsoft Knowledgebase Article concerning mail merge connections. Once modified, restart the computer and perform the mail merge.

The results should now show the following:
