Resolved Questions

Can I to show only limited human readable text from full barcode text?

Suppose I am generating a barcode using the data:

27272789891103149999123123

Broken down, the parts are:

field1=272727
field2=8989
field3=110314
field4=9999
field5=123123

This string can generate barcodes successfully, but I want to display only specific field value(s) as human-readable text (HR), such as field1 and field2:

2727278989

How do you suggest accomplishing the above?

Operating System: Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix

Application: Java

In general (see the Java Component user manual for the respective IDAutomation properties being used), the following is what could be tried:

1. Set the ShowText property to False (the default is to show the DataToEncode value).

-AND-

2a. Assign the CaptionBelow property to the string variable wanting to be shown (if the property is not available, use 2b).

-OR-

2b. Place a separate text field under the barcode (in the program that is receiving the streamed barcode image). An added benefit of this technique is that the user can specify text properties, independent of the barcode image itself.
