I can view the SSRS CRI in Design mode but not in Preview mode


I am able to use the SSRS IDAutomation Barcode CRI but cannot view it in Preview mode.

Here are the steps I took to get the barcode to appear in the preview of Visual Studio.

Visual Studio 2010
Windows 7

1. Ran IDAutomation CRI 2D Setup V2012.exe

2. Opened Visual Studio – error in RSReportDesigner.config

3. Manually fixed RSReportDesigner.config (see below)

4. Opened Visual Studio – Added DataMatrixBarcode item to Toolbox

5. Dragged DataMatrixBarcode item to report

6. Barcode appears (behind the teal message)

7. Preview – nothing appears, no barcode

8. Rebooted machine, opened VS, no barcode in preview.

Operating System: Windows 7

Application: SSRS 2012, Visual Studio 2010

The example uses Data Matrix.

The solution is to modify the RSReportDesigner.config file in the section that has:

<ReportItem Name="DataMatrixBarcode" Type="IDAutomation.ReportingServices.DataMatrixBarcode,
IDAutomation_ReportingServices_DataMatrix" />

<ReportItem Name="DataMatrixBarcode" Type="IDAutomation.ReportingServices.DataMatrixBarcodeCRI,
