Datamatrix Symbology identifier ]d1 ]d2

We are looking to purchase your barcode creation software but we need ti check that we can choose what type of datamatrix to create. My understanding is that ]d2 is specifically for GS1 data whilst ]d1 is for anything which is non GS1, is that correct.

Can you confirm if GS1 data can be encoded in a ]d1 datamatrix code and does this still work? Based on research on the internet, there does seem confusion around this point. We have suppliers that have created datamatrix barcodes for their products and when we scan the labels we are seeing a mix of ]d1 and ]d2, does this imply that some have got their encoding wrong?

Thanks

Chris

IDAutomation Data Matrix products can create GS1-DataMatrix. To see the ]d2 in the barcode scan for the first Identifier, set your scanner to decode the FNC1 for Data Matrix.IDAutomation Data Matrix products

Thanks Ben,

So can you confirm that ID Automation software can also create data matrix codes which are NOT GS1 and that these would show the first identifier as ]d1.

Thanks
