How to Generally Concatenate Data


I would like to create a barcode that has all three fields placed in a single barcode with tabs in between instead of creating 3 barcodes.

Is this possible and could you provide a sample?

Operating System: Windows 10

Application: Excel & Visual Studio

In general, you may concatenate fields together by adding the & or + operators.

Concatenation Example:
To concatenate the following into a string (text) variable called DataToEncode*:
• ABC
• {Field.Value}*
• 123

DataToEncode = “ABC” & {Field.Value} & “123”

With IDAutomation software, you could generally enable ApplyTilde and use ~XXX, where XXX is the character’s 3-digit decimal value from the ASCII Table.

Tab Example:
• ABC
• TAB (horizontal tab)
• 123

DataToEncode = “ABC” & “~009” & “123”

*Dependent on the program/interface being used - consult the respective manual.
