Best Answer

Consider the SUBSTITUTION SOLUTION VBA SOLUTION

Here are the steps to format the data:

1. Install 2D barcode fonts (Data Matrix, QR Code, PDF417, Aztec)

2. Format the data in Excel using the VBA solution (VBA Data Matrix, VBA QR Code, VBA PDF417, VBA Aztec)

3. Copy the barcode column and paste it with Values Only into another column to remove the macro formula encoding to that column.

4. Save the file as .xlsm

5. Select and delete the encoded barcode column. Rename columns if preferred to help with data merge.

6. Save the file as .xlsx (macro-free dbase)

7. In InDesign, make a text box where the 2D barcode is to be placed on the artwork. Type a descriptive word and change the font to IDAutomation2D.

8. Link to the data source (.xlsx file) in XMpie add-on within InDesign. Fields will populate in the uCreate window.

9. Link InDesign 2D encoded text with barcode field in uCreate.

10. The barcode may be split up into multiple lines. Resize the font and/or adjust the line spacing to bring it together forming a 2D code.

11. Perform any needed data merges with any remaining data fields needed.

12. Display the barcode.
