Space character not encoding in barcode image


In May I upgraded the Barcode Generator for Microsoft Access to be able to insert the barcode image (Data Matrix) into an Access form. An A-circumflex symbol is inserted along with a blank space when the check character is a space (HIBCC uses modulo 43 and a space can be a check character). The alt code for a non-breaking space is Alt 160 and that is being used. Barcode images scan correctly for all other check characters. The previous version from 2009 produced labels (reports) with barcode images without issue.

Using ~d032 with ApplyTilde enabled instead of the space character solved the issue. Data beginning or ending with a space character can be trimmed out in Access and other applications. When this is the case, IDAutomaiton recommends checking for a space character and inserting the ~d032 in its place, which encodes the space character directly in the barcode. For example:
If ChkChar = " " then ChkChar = "~d032"
