Unable to register the MSSTDFMT.DLL: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3

MSSTDFMT.DLL is a Microsoft Standard Data Formatting Object Library DLL that is used by some applications that make use of ActiveX Controls. IDAutomation’s ActiveX Controls do not require MSSTDFMT.DLL; however, some desktop applications such as 2D Image Generators and 2D Font Encoder Applications do.

This error is usually caused when a setup application tries to register a 32-bit system DLL in a 64-bit system folder on 64-bit versions of Windows.

To resolve the problem, try reinstalling the application with the latest version. If that does not work, install the VB6 Runtime Files by running this setup application:
http://downloads.idautomation.com/IDAutomation_VB6RuntimeFiles.zip

To manually resolve the issue:
Open the command prompt as administrator.
Windows 7: Start - Accessories - right click on “Command Prompt" and choose Run as Administrator.
Windows 10: Start - All Apps - Windows System - right click on “Command Prompt" and choose Run as Administrator.

1.
Change to the “C:Windows” directory and type: dir MSSTDFMT.DLL /s

2.
Locate and move the MSSTDFMT.DLL file to “Windows SysWow64” and type the following:
Regsvr32 C:Windows SysWow64 MSSTDFMT.DLL /u

3.
Rerun the installation.

More information about 64-bit Windows systems:
