How do you use barcodes to update a spreadsheet of items?


This is my first time trying to use barcodes. Say you have an Excel spreadsheet with a column of 100 items (for example, 100 different greeting cards), each one with an individual bar code in a cell in the spreadsheet. Then 80 of the cards are gone, so you now have a stack of 20 cards remaining, and you want to know which ones you have left.

I want to use a barcode scanner to scan the remaining cards so the Excel file automatically populates in a way that it shows which 20 cards are remaining--for example, by putting a "1" or a "yes" in the cell next to the bar codes of the remaining cards. How do I do that? Thank you for your help.

What you describe sounds like something that would require an experienced Excel Developer to implement, or better yet, an inventory application. IDAutomation provides barcode generator products that we support here. However, we do not create custom solutions.
