Long data strings won't scan pdf417


I'm using the PDF417 Font to generate pdf417 barcodes in Smartstream Designer in InDesign using Dynamic Personalization, and some of the data records that contain more data won't scan when generated. Most scan perfectly, but the records with the longest data fields don't scan. Need help. Any settings or preferences that can be changed?

Operating System: Mac OS High Sierra

Application: InDesign 2019 Smartstream Designer

I think I figured it out. I changed the error correction to 4 and the default pdf columns to 6 and it fixed the issue. All codes scan perfectly now. Thank you Brant for your help.

Can you attach a screenshot of the barcodes that are not scanning properly? It is possible that either the barcode scanner is not capable of reading the larger barcode or the larger barcode is being truncated somehow and that could be why the scanner cannot read it.

I'm using the ID Automation Barcode application that is part of SmartStream Designer in InDesign 2019. I'm putting a .csv data file in the database to generate variable barcodes.

Are you using one of the IDAutomation products for this and if so which one? Can you attach a screenshot of the barcode that does not scan?
