Need to use Excel to put barcode data together?

We have this scanner from this company (Model No. SC5USB-W) and use it to take information from a system of barcoded objects. Each object has a code and has been scanned into the Excel page. However, later on, we require that the same objects be scanned again to denote that is will not be in our inventory anymore. Is it possible to use this scanner to scan the object, find its place on the Excel sheet, and put information in another column? IE Object 10 is scanned, and the Excel page finds the row associated with object 10 and puts a string "check out" in that row, column 5.

Operating System: Windows 7

Application: Excel

With quite a bit of Excel application programming, it is possible. The scanner works like a keyboard--only designed to enter data. If you can perform your requirement with using a keyboard, it will work using a barcode scanner.
