IDAutomationLinear5.dll - How register to Windows 10?

I inherited an application that uses IDAutomationLinear5.dll. I have been able to compile and use the application on Windows 7 machines and it runs on said machines. The company is moving to Windows 10 and the application no longer works on those machines. What do I need to do to continue to have my barcode printing functionality?

To use this product on Windows 10, or any 64-bit OS, you need IDAutomationLinear64.dll which is available in the latest ActiveX Control. The old product you are using is from 2001 and contains known security issues so I would not use it at all. For Visual Studio, I recommend a better component such as the .NET WinForms Control.

I was able to register the component by using cmd in admin mode. But now, when I am in VS 2008 when I open the form that has the control on it, VS 2008 crashes.
