GS1-128 Application Identifiers and Formatting Order

I am creating GS1-128 barcodes with the IDAutomation Code 128 Barcode Font Package, encoding the data with the IDAutomation Crystal Reports UFL, and using the following GS1 Application Identifiers (AIs):

· 02 - GTIN-14
· 10 - Batch or Lot Number
· 17 - Expiration Date
· 37 - Quantity

The function used:

IDAutomationCode128 ("(02)0560022307805(10)000061490085(17)200513(37)1092",true)

I have submitted the barcode to the GS1 in Portugal and they replied saying that the barcode was not correct because is generating an FNC1 after the GTIN, but GTIN is a fixed field.

What am I doing wrong?

Operating System: Widows

Application: Crystal Reports

When generating GS1 symbols, IDAutomation recommends testing the result with the Barcode Decoder App which parses out GS1 data to verify proper encoding.

The following AIs are:

· 02 - fixed
· 10 - variable
· 17 - fixed
· 37 - variable

Encode the data as (the first AI needs parentheses - whether fixed or variable for the FNC1. Move the other variable AIs to the end):

IDAutomationCode128 ("(02)056002230780517200513(10)000061490085(37)1092" , true)

James, thanks for your answer.
I'm still having some difficulties.

According to your answer, it should look like:

IDAutomationCode128 ("020560022307805(10)00006149008517200513(37)1092" ,true )

Is this ok? Could the order be like this?

Thanks for the help.

When the IDAutomation encoder function has ApplyTilde enabled and sees parentheses around an AI, it adds a special character in front of the section pertaining to that AI.

For data after the initial FNC1, GS1 requires that variable Application Identifiers (AIs) are to have the 'special symbol' in from of them, which means the fixed AIs do not need parentheses around them.

For additional information, please refer to the GS1 AI (Application Identifier) & Element String Specifications page, which had additional examples at the bottom.
