128a Barcode introduces extra three bar at the end of the original barcode while using ASCII 194 for space

Hi,

We have a requirement for barcode value with space. We are using a special character Â,(ASCII 194) to replace the space in the barcode value. I am using font IDAutomationC128M with code128b to embed the data.

This is giving perfect results and I am able to scan the barcode,

But it introduces three extra bars at the end of the stop sign of the original barcode after some considerable space in the barcode itself. The extra portion is marked with RED color in the attached image file.

Please advise with a solution.

Operating System: Windows7

Application: Oracle Apps R12

For confirmation, are you using the Java Font Encoder from IDAutomation?

It appears that you are encoding using the Code 128 B. You should be able to insert a space directly where you need a space. The encoder interprets it as the  character in the encoded data.

Therefore, there is no need to enter the character directly as the encoder handles this process.

Use the most recent encoder that I linked in my previous response. It is a Font Encoder jar file that includes an encoder class file.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your quick reply.

To answer your question: "What IDAutomation barcode font encoder are you using? What character set function are you using? IDAutomation recommends using the Code128 Auto function over Code 128 A, B, or C",
I'm using the Java code from this site (https://www.idautomation.com/fonts/tools/sourcecode/FontIDAutomation.txt). It is having 128a,b, and c functions. In this, I have used the 128b function of the Java code to encode the data.

I am not able to find the 128 Auto function in this Java code.

I have done the below steps.
1> in RTF (Oracle XML publisher report) using the font: IDAutomationC128M
2> In the RTF field used 128b e.g <?format-barcode:MODEL_DELIVERY;'code128b';'XMLPBarVendor'?>
3> For embedding value java code used: BarcodeUtil java class file as mentioned above in the above link provided

N.B: As you suggested - When I am not using the ASCII 194 (special character) to replace the space, then in the output barcode it is showing spaces and is not able to scan at all.

Please suggest

Thanks, Susom
