Barcode font installation in Windows for many users (GPO)


Since upgrading to Windows 11 I must install the IDAutomation Barcode Fonts for each logged-on user. We run multiple shifts on shared computers, so this is very time-consuming. Is there a way to install these fonts for public use?

It seems that after upgrading to Windows 11, you're having to reinstall the IDAutomation fonts for each user, which is particularly challenging on shared computers with multiple shifts. Barcode fonts behave like any other font in the operating system. Unfortunately, fonts do not automatically install for multiple users due to how Windows handles font installations within user profiles.

If your organization uses GPO, please refer to the Barcode Font GPO Deployment for Windows Example. To make these fonts available to all users, it typically requires either administrative access to install them system-wide or a script-based solution. A skilled technician on your team could set up a process using login scripts or a Group Policy to automate font installations across all user profiles and machines. While IDAutomation doesn’t handle these configurations directly, your internal IT team should be able to assist in setting this up to save time.
