Code 128 barcodes not printing from Report Server on a Windows Server

We have the Code 128 package from IDAutomation and have had success in displaying and printing them from local computers in-house through SSRS.

However the barcodes are extremely small and unreadable, or come back as human-readable text when hosted from a Windows Server 2008 virtual machine with a Report Server, such as:

i402BOLMSTR55@i

This also happens when converting to a PDF or a Word Document. It just doesn't read. This is a True Type font, so it SHOULD print.

Can anyone assist as to why, even when all the virtuals and the locals have the font installed, the virtuals display this behavior?

Note: A new product (SSRS Native Barcode Generator) has been released since this post was resolved that offers an easier method of generating barcodes in SSRS without fonts or other components.

If you are using barcode fonts, all machines that will generate and print the barcode require the font to be installed.

So we got it to print from our web-hosted product correctly, but only if the printee has the font installed on their machine...

"you will need to seek assistance with the application vendor on how to embed fonts."

Where can we do this?

When the data returns as encoded text, it means that the barcode font is not applied to the value. If it occurs in the PDF conversion, then the fonts are not being properly embedded in the PDF--you will need to seek assistance from the application vendor on how to embed fonts.

Instead of the barcode fonts and assembly to generate the barcode, you may want to consider using the IDAutomation Reporting Services CRI: https://www.idautomation.com/barcode-components/reporting-services-cri/
