How do I create GS1 DataMatrix barcodes from my GS1-128 code

I have both the GS1-128 fonts and the GS1 DataMatrix fonts. I have an Excel file where I have created the GS1-128 barcodes and the human readables. Now I need to create the new GS1 DataMatrix barcodes. How do I do this and can it be done on the same Excel document as my GS1-128 barcodes. I am trying to create 20,000 Parcel Return labels with sequential numbering.

Hello,

You may certainly use your new software for the Data Matrix Font and Encoder Suite to generate the GS1 Data Matrix barcodes in Excel on one locally installed computer and it can be done in the same spreadsheet as your GS1-128 barcodes. You will need to import the VBA Macro for Data Matrix the same way you did for Code 128 and there is a good tutorial here: How to encode Data Matrix Barcodes using VBA in Excel?. After you import the new VBA macro with a name different than the one you imported for Code 128, you will use a different formula to do the encoding for the Data Matrix barcodes as per the tutorial.

Similarly to Code 128, what makes the Data Matrix barcode a GS1 Data Matrix barcode will be in the use of the "Apply Tilde" parameter in your formula and then structuring your data to meet your GS1 standard: GS1 Data Matrix 2D Barcode FAQ and there are examples of GS1 Data Matrix encoding at the bottom of the tutorial I linked you to above.
