How to get Barcode Font to work with Net2 Access Control

We are updating our badge software to Net2 Access control, and we need to be able to print a barcode on the back that is our employee number (for Example 000000002398231000) I pick the ID font I want but it is only displaying 15 15 15 15 15 ..... Any help would be greatly appreciated in getting this to work with our software.

After recommending the Code 39 Font instead of Interleaved 2 of 5 for a badge ID system where we do not have encoding instructions, the customer returned the Interleaved 2of5 barcode and purchased the Code 39 font set after completing their testing.

This customer has also emailed their question to support. Here is the email response:

Unfortunately, IDAutomation does not support the use of our products in your specific application but one of the encoding tools here: Font Encoders for Barcode Fonts may be able to be installed in that application. Some of these encoding tools are only available with the purchase of a Developer license and IDAutomation would not be able to assist you with an installation to Net2 Access Control.

If you had the DEMO version working, the barcodes are normally static barcodes where the data cannot be changed so if you installed any encoding tools or fonts, be sure to double-check that you removed any encoders and all the fonts > empty the recycle bin > reboot the workstation and then perform a new installation using the purchased package. I recommend that you even delete the purchased files in this manner and once you know that the workstation is free from IDAutomation software you re-download your software from your order.

If you did not install any encoding tools, you are going to need to encode your data somehow as the fonts themselves only complete the barcode, they do not encode data. If you cannot install an encoding tool in your application, you can encode the data in something like Excel and then copy the encoded data over to your application where you would apply the font. The instructions for encoding in Excel are here: How to create Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes in Excel using VBA? Alternately, the package you purchased comes with a Font Encoder Application: Font Encoder Software App where you can encode the data in that standalone application and then copy the encoded data to your application and apply the font.

To generate an Interleaved 2of5 barcode, you will have to encode your data in some fashion prior to applying the font. If the suggestions I made above won’t work for you, you can review the list of encoding tools to see if one of the other options may work.

EDIT: Is there a specific reason you chose the Interleaved 2of5 barcode type? This barcode type is almost never used for ID badges and depending on what data you need in the barcode, Code 39 Code 39 Barcode Font Package might be a better solution for you. For Code 39 the character set consists of barcode symbols representing uppercase letters, numbers, the space character, and the following symbols: - . $ / + %. You wouldn’t need an encoding tool for this barcode type, you could just place asterisks around your data e.g. *ABCD1234*, and apply the Code 39 font. This could likely be done in your application.
