I would like to print a 1 inch wide barcode that doesnt need an encoder

I am trying to find a barcode font that doesn't need any type of encoder to be scanned as the software it's printing from does not have any type of encoder software. The width of this barcode needs to fit on a 1-inch wide label and it needs to be scanned by a hand-held device for data entry. Is there any type of font out there?

Operating System: windows xp

Application: Created in Word but printed from McKesson Paragon

There are two solutions:

HOSTED SOLUTION:
The Dynamic Barcode Generator streams barcodes into webpages and applications simply by referencing a URL.

A live demo can be tested and has many parameters (look under +General Barcode Properties for all Symbologies).

Calculation:
* It is important to know what DPI (dots per inch) your printer is printing at. Given that Pixels / DPI = Inches, you would calculate the pixels needed as Pixels Needed = size in inches * DPI of printer.

* Now that you know the Pixels Needed (referring to the Knowledge Base article on Web Printing), you would use the formula:

Actual Size of Image / (DPI of the printer / 96) = size to specify in HTML (rounded up to integer value), where Actual Size of Image = Pixels Needed (from above - for both width and height of the image).

You would use the calculated Width and Height as in the Knowledge Base example.

IDAutomation also has non-web solutions including:

Barcode Label Software

Barcode Image Generator

Barcode ActiveX Control

NOTE: The solutions generate a barcode as an image and do not use barcode fonts.

FONT SOLUTION:
Although with fonts you cannot directly size the barcode, especially with variable data, the Code 39 Barcode Font Package only requires start/stop characters (! or *) surrounding the data, to create a valid barcode, before the font is applied.
