Merging encoding data from Excel to Word does not produce scannable barcode

I have encoded data as Code 39 in Excel. However, when I merge the fields (id, namecode, sex, *id*) into Word, the data loses the asterisks, and the encoding is gone. I have also encoded data for Code 128 and a similar issue occurs.

Example of Code 39 in Excel:

Example of Code 128 in Excel:

Why is my field not encoded or why does it disappear when I merge it into Word?

The IDAutomationVBA or Barcode Add-In encodes data for IDAutomation Barcode Fonts in Excel. When performing a mail merge, the data may not appear encoded when two fields with the same name are added. In the example above, Word treats the fields id and *id* as the same field. It may not recognize some special characters. Therefore, when both fields are added to the mail merge, the preview will not display the encoded field.

To resolve the issue, rename the field in Excel from *id* to another name such as barcodeid. Perform the mail merge and the issue will be resolved.
