UPC-A bar code font for use in Abobe InDesign

UPC-A bar code font (or equiv), for use in Abobe InDesign. Question: can I install and use IDAutomationUPCEANL font to produce UPC-A bar code image(s) in Text or Number box (12-digit numeric upc), within Adobe InDesign file. Project is 3,000 SKU product catalog with UPC-A barcode image by each product image.

Thank you for contacting us. Generating a UPC-A barcode will involve more than just applying a barcode font as your data will first need to be encoded before applying the font to complete the barcode. For use in InDesign, IDAutomation recommends that you do the encoding in Excel and then perform a merge to InDesign where you will apply the barcode font.

The package you will need is our GS1 UPC EAN Barcode Font Package

The tutorial for implementing this in Excel is here: How to create UPC/EAN barcodes in Excel using VBA using UPC/EAN Fonts?

Once you have the encoded data in Excel you will do a merge to InDesign via this tutorial which is written for Code 128, but the same will apply for UPC-A: How do I create Code 128 in InDesign using Excel for Windows? and you would pick up this tutorial at Step 4 where you create the CSV file.

While the setup takes a few steps to encode and then merge your data to InDesign, it can be done following the above instructions.
