SC5-USB Scanner to Input into Salesforce

I have been using the IDAutomation SC5-USB scanner since 2009, connected to my HP laptop running Vista. Originally, I used FileMaker but converted to SalesForce a few years ago - no issues until now.

Now, I have a new PC running the newest version of Windows. The scanner is working, but the scans are being dropped into any program that I have open and not updating SalesForce.

For example, if my email is open, the scan gets dropped into the email I am typing.

How do I get back to where it is dropping codes into SalesForce, as I had it before?

Operating System: Windows

Application: SalesForce

Scanners are treated as keyboards by operating systems – and just like keyboards, scanners do not know which program you are inputting data into, nor can they be directly programmed to input into a specific program. This means that whichever program has ‘focus’ (and accepts input) will get the scan.

We cannot account for a custom setup (if possible) that previously allowed you to scan directly into Salesforce. If this is the case, contact your IT department.
