Scanning into Excel barcode is read as formula


My scanner will scan HIBC barcodes into Excel, but Excel will treat it as a formula. Is this normal? How can I prevent it? I have installed your Code 39 Font Package, and it works very well. Just couldn't find any info on your forums.

It is normal for Excel to treat data within the cells as a formula or a number value. To allow Excel to treat data within cells as text, you should select the applicable row or column and choose to format the cells as text.

I did find out that the cell format is the answer. Thank you, Brant. I had to use (@), as the cell format. The parenthesis act as the start/stop character, and the @ tells Excel to use whatever is between the parenthesis.
