The FedEx SmartPost Tracking Barcode is a GS1-128 standard that uses the Code 128 symbology.

Zip Code (5 digits)

Application Identifier (2 digits)

IDAutomation has several products that can generate the SmartPost barcode including:

Code 128 Fonts

Barcode Components (.NET Forms Control) and Applications (Label Software)

The example will generate a valid SmartPost barcode using the Barcode Label Software. The example will create the barcode as a standard value and assume a label is already created.

To learn how to use the Label Software, view IDAutomation's video playlist.

1. Add a Linear barcode to the label.

2. Double-click the barcode and enter the Barcode Properties.

3. Select the Encoding Tab, set the Barcode Encoding to Code 128, the Character Set to Auto, and enable ApplyTilde. Select Apply.

4. Select the Value tab. (The example uses the standard value type)
To encode the FNC1, place parentheses around the AIs. Calculate the MOD10 check digit using the ~m21. Select Apply and OK.
