Using the SC5USB Barcode Scanner, if you are scanning:

PDF417
Make sure the barcode is properly generated. Then you must enable this symbology in the scanner using: https://www.idautomation.com/scanners/SC5D-PDF417-addendum.pdf
and on page 92 at https://www.idautomation.com/scanners/SC5D_USB_Scanner_Manual.pdf

To view an example of how to scan a PDF417 barcode using the SC5USB Scanner, please view this video at: https://support.idautomation.com/Barcode-Scanners/Can-the-SC5USB-Scanner-read-PDF417/_467

DATA MATRIX
The SC5USB will not scan a Data Matrix barcode. For 2D Scanners, please visit:
https://www.idautomation.com/barcode-scanners/2d-imagers/2d-usb-barcode-scanner.html

For other Linear Barcode types, such as Code 39 and Code 128, the scanner will be able to scan them.
