Function GS1 conforming String


If the string I want to show as a Data Matrix begins with an FNC1 character, but the rest of the string is not GS1 conforming.

For example, what will be the difference if I call:

· id_automation(valid GS1 code. beginning with FNC1 and GS characters and valid AIs)
· or id_automation(invalid gs1 code beginning with FNC1)
· or id_automation(string without FNC1)

Will be the result always a 2D-data matrix?

With all IDAutomation Data Matrix products, the symbol will be designated as a GS1 symbol when ProcessTilde is enabled, the encoding mode is ASCII and the data encoded begins with ~1. Our products do not validate the GS1 AIs and Element Strings, they will encode any data. It is up to the system to read the barcode to validate and parse the GS1 data.

When generating GS1 symbols, IDAutomation recommends testing the result with the Barcode Decoder App which parses out GS1 data to verify proper encoding.
