How to determine barcode size to be read from computer monitor

I would like to read a type 39 barcode directly from a computer monitor. The monitor has a 640 x 480 resolution and is 211 mm (8.31") x 158 mm (6.22"). How do I determine the best overall size for the barcode to match the screen resolution? The barcode will have 9 characters and will always be the same characters. Thanks.

In this case, I am not quite sure how well the scanner will read from the screen with this resolution. You may have to adjust the point size and run a few tests.
