I am not sure what type of scanner you are looking for exactly. We have a few of scanners in our scanner menu.

I am not quite sure if it is what your vendor is speaking about.

"It will have to be wireless and have the ability to access the web portal to enter the part numbers"

If the vendor is referring to the scanner's ability to input information into a java based browser, then yes, most scanners will have this capability once the cursor is enabled in the browser text area.

If the vendor is referring to a scanner that can directly access the web portal on its own, then I do not believe any of the scanners have this capability. There are portable memory scanners that can scan barcodes and load the data to a destination computer.

Our Southware vendor is installing a web-based portal to use when counting parts in the warehouse or trucks. I have been told that we need a barcode scanner that supports a java enabled browser. It will have to be wireless and have the ability to access the web portal to enter the part numbers. That about sums up my knowledge. I don't really understand. It looks like there are some barcode scanners with Windows Mobile 6.0 that have Java scripting ability from ie8. Is this the same thing that our vendor is talking about? I understand it may be slow, is that because these mobile computer/barcode scanners do not have enough memory to perform at a faster rate?
Thanks for your help.
