I am looking for a scanner that will take a picture and read barcodes at the same time.


I need to read planet codes, Postnet codes, and IMb codes and take a picture of the letter to determine issues without delaying the mail. I have about 10 min a day to review miss sent issues before drivers take the mail out. If I can scan and take a picture I can then review the info later. I need to scan about 30 to 100 pcs a day.

Unfortunately, IDAutomation does not provide any barcode readers that are also capable of taking a picture and storing it. There may be some scanner models available from other manufacturers that state the capability to take a digital picture of an image, but I do not know how that image can be transferred.

If possible, it may be a better option to find a barcode scanning app for your smartphone that would allow you to read postal barcodes and also take pictures of their envelopes, documents, etc. We have something similar to this in development but, unfortunately, I do not have any specifics in terms of a release date.

Unfortunately, I am not sure of any hand held scanners that will accomplish your requirement--taking a picture the same time that it scans the barcode. If there are any scanners that can perform this task, it might be a fixed scanner. To find out if it is possible, you may want to research "fixed scanners."
