Resolved Questions

Need to select barcode scanner replacement product

I am currently doing the following:
● DOS-based - dBaseIII software with 2 blank fields on the screen
● Scan a barcode label with a trigger scanner to capture a package id (tracking#) for the 1st field
● Scan a series of characters while the package is on the scale to capture the weight in the 2nd
● The scanner is from AML (out of this business), but it’s just like a PSC – trigger type
● Scanner connects to a Reader (from AML also) – plastic connector, looks like RS232
● Scale connects to the Reader also – definitely RS232 Serial, the scale has its own power source
● Keyboard connects to Reader
● Reader (not powered) connects to PC Keyboard input

I am trying to go triggerless by using an omnidirectional scanner. I can’t use a USB scanner, because I can’t capture the weight from the scale. I’ve tried WASP – WPS150 by using my cable instead of the USB and plugging it into the Reader, but the scanner doesn’t get any power.

Is there a scanner that would connect to my reader that gets its own power?

Is there a better overall solution?
Thanks

I believe the GRYPHON GD4400 2D Barcode Imager will be the best fit for you.

OK no problem, the scanner can also go into what is called presentation mode, or continuous mode.
This keeps the imager on all the time so it will constantly search for barcodes, and the trigger will not need to be used.

Thanks for the answer, but as much as I tried to be thorough in my question, I forgot to mention 1 key goal - I need to go with a stationary unit (no trigger). Your thoughts?
