Scanning PDF417 with Various Scanners

I have two different (non-IDAutomation) scanners- one will scan a PDF417 barcode correctly and the other will only give me the last 25 percent of the expected data.

Would you be able to help me troubleshoot this?

From the description, it is difficult to determine what is occurring with the malfunctioning scanner*. Try scanning into the Barcode Scanner ASCII String Decoder to determine the complete output of each scanner (using the same barcode for each test):

If the scans are the same for each: The scanners are working correctly and the cause of the difference was probably the input program (some treat input data differently than others).

If there is still a difference between the scans, it could be one of the following reasons:

- This could mean that the settings on the scanners are different. Try resetting each scanner to its factory defaults (see the respective scanner manual).

- It could be that one of the scanners has an error and needs servicing or replacement (refer to the respective manufacturer's technical support). If you would need to replace the scanner, IDAutomation suggests the SC7-USB*, which is a robust and ergonomic 2D barcode scanner.

*Technical support is provided for IDAutomation brand scanners.
