To decrement values for the Barcode Label Software or Check Design Software, view this video example at 36 seconds:

The example sets the Step value to a negative number.

That is a good idea!

I think I have found a workaround. If I decrement the check numbers and MICR numbers as described previously I can use the MICR properties screen to edit the suffix field and put in the rest of the account info including the bank transit code, account info, and other relevant details. Seems to work fine.

Not sure if there is a character limitation.

Unfortunately, there are only so many ways to manipulate the decrementing, especially if the check number appears before the rest of the MICR. The only solution is to print the checks for the 1s, 10s, and 100s positions separately. Beyond this, the Free Check Design Software options are limited.

I follow....but while the check number in the separate MICR field decrements down and moves from 3 to 2 numbers and eventually to one number the field shrinks away to the left leaving what appears as multiple blank spaces in the field. I don't think this would be acceptable to the bank.....the spec sheet from the bank clearly indicates in my case that there should only be one blank character between the check number and the routing number. Any fix for this?

Thanks

Though it is possible to decrement values within the Properties, it is not possible to decrement values through Label Fields.

The alternative is to leave out the check number from your label field and add a separate MICR text.

The print screen shows the check number set at 100.

Screen 2 shows check number decrementing but embedded check number in the MICR line incrementing.

Print screen 3 shows the formula for the MICR line.

Verify that the check numbers embedded in the MICR line are also decremented. Can you post a screenshot of how the MICR line check numbers are set?

I can get the check numbers to decrement but the check number embedded in the MICR line still increments up. Do I need a new formula?
