Thank you for the image. IDAutomation Code 128 Fonts support the symbols seen on the Code 128 Barcode Font Character Set.

This seems like an unforeseen result of the regional character set of the computer being used, as the  character is not on the above table. This result is not present when we tried duplicating the issue on our computers.

If the system regional setting is not set to "English" or the 1252 Latin-1 code page, the Code 128 fonts support the following additional code pages in Windows: 1250 European, 1251 Cyrillic, 1253 Greek, 1254 Turkish, 1255 Hebrew, and 1256 Arabic.

For a font that works on any operating system, code page, and locale, IDAutomation offers the Universal Barcode Font Package which creates Code 128 and many other barcode types from a single font.

To analyze the barcode, please give us one example of the data being made into a barcode and a clear image of that data as a barcode.

For example, you would give us *ABC123* and post the image of that data as a clear barcode.

We are now using extended barcode 39 and the same issue still happens, in scanning the barcode, instead of # and & appears it will be a space.

Yes, the # and the & symbols may be encoded using Extended Code 39 fonts. For instructions on using Code 39 Extended fonts, please review the forum post titled Code 39 and Extended Code 39.

For the reference to encode the # and the & symbols, please refer to the previous answer and its links.

Hi James, do you mean that we may still use barcode 39 but can read # and & sign?? if it will be an extended barcode 39?

Actually, IDAutomation's Code 39 Barcode Font Package can encode* the # and the & symbols.

Within the IDAutomation Code-39 Font Package, extended fonts are provided to easily encode lower-case characters in addition to upper-case letters and numbers. When these fonts are not being used, or when it is necessary to encode additional characters, shift functions may be used to extend the character set according to ISO 646. In order for Extended Code 39 to be decoded properly, the scanner must first be programmed to read it (see your scanner manual for details). Otherwise, the scanner will simply scan the existing data, for example, "+C" instead of "c."

When extended Code 39 is enabled, characters may be directly encoded by using the format +? where? equals the character that represents the appropriate function in the chart below.

For example, Code+M3of9+P will encode Code#3of9&.

*For more information on the Code 39 ASCII Table and encoding characters (or functions), please refer to the Encoding ASCII Character Set in Extended Code 39 tutorial (+The Extended Code 39 ASCII Character Table).

Since we are unable to duplicate the error, it is suggested that the Universal Barcode Font Package is tried out to see f the error occurs again.

Hi James,

We are using visual studio 2008 wherein there is some data that was ok after printing and some that are not.
image just like on the image..back of its barcode has a formula IDAutomation_Code128B({field that I am using}). Sometimes it was ok after I print but some data on the field will display an A character. I don't know how will it not happen again because I have already used code128A on the formula but in the same scenario.

Please give more information about which IDAutomation product for Crystal Reports is being used and information surrounding the circumstances where the issue is observed.

If a clear image may be captured, please post the image as well.
