How to create a space in Code 39 Barcodes?


We just purchased the Code 39 Font Package. We need to barcode a description field that includes spaces.
We must be using the wrong font because when we barcode it the space breaks the string into individual barcodes rather than coding the space in one barcode. What font in the package should we be using?

New in the 2011 version of the Code 39 Font Package is a special set of TrueType fonts that encode the space character without a substitution character.

There are three ways to create a Code 39 barcode that includes a space.

1. To manually create a space for Code 39, you would have to enter the equal sign. For example *TEST=DATA* and then apply the Code 39 barcode font. If you have installed the Extended fonts, use a ~ for the space character as in *TEST~DATA*

2. Depending on the application that you are creating barcodes in, you could use a font tool to format the data (this will automatically add the space character, which is an equal sign). For example, if you are working with any of the applications on this list, you can use a font tool to format the data before you apply the font: https://www.idautomation.com/font-encoders/

3. Option three allows you to use our fonts that allow you to place a space and receive a space. You must manually install this font; it is located in the Code 39 product package under Fonts with Barcode Symbol in Space Character
