Code128 on Mac Lotus/IBM Notes


Current State:
We are using IBM Lotus Notes 9.x and have a Lotus script that takes a field, runs the text to create Code128b, and places it into a new form field (which is formatted as Rich Text).

The new form and the fields use the font IDAutomatationC128M. The barcode looks great and can print it out on the label correctly.

Issue:
This code works great using Windows, but not on Mac.

What is your recommendation?

Best Answer

Due to Mac using a different character set than Windows, the solution is to use the Universal Barcode Fonts and a respective Universal Font encoder*.

*Currently, there are not any universal encoders for IBM/Lotus Notes, but your people may convert an encoder over (a purchase is necessary for access to the proprietary universal encoders available).
