Barcodes Printed From Crystal Reports Viewer Differ Than When Printed Directly

We have created labels in Crystal Reports using IDAutomation 1D/linear barcode fonts and the Font Formulas for Crystal Reports and they are working beautifully.

We are having a weird problem for which we were hoping you might have some tips.

When imported into our shop management software (JobBoss from Exact Systems – which is using a Crystal Reports runtime/viewer), the barcode on the label prints just fine to a laser printer.

When we printed it to our Zebra thermal printer, the barcode appears slightly stretched, has thin white lines through it, and does not scan.

The peculiar part is that if we print the very same label to the very same Zebra printer directly from Crystal Reports, it turns out just fine.

Could you offer any ideas as to what is occurring?

Application: Crystal Reports, Crystal viewer on ERP

From the description, it would seem that going through the ERP Crystal viewer at a lower resolution is distorting the printout. This appears to be some type of resolution compensation that is unrelated to IDAutomation Barcode Fonts or encoders.

Change the point size of the barcode font when printing to the Zebra printer and see if that helps. If not, you might have to contact the ERP vendor and see if there is a setting they can help deactivate or workaround.

Changing the font size (making it one step smaller) worked. Thank you!
