Syspro Crystal Report with Data Matrix Barcode UFL

We are using the Data Matrix Font and Encoder with a Crystal Report and now we have upgraded from Crystal 10 to 2020 support pack 4. When we are doing server side printing in Syspro, we find our data matrix is randomly not pulling the same data contained in the report. Not sure how this could happen. In the data matrix formula, it is sending the same data field that is used in the Job Number field.

Operating System: Server 2019

Application: Syspro

Without the answers to the questions I asked below, it is hard to troubleshoot this for you.

If you performed the recommended Barcode Font Encoder Formulas for Crystal Reports installation, then you can go into the formula editor window, and the most recent files are dated 2023 as per the below screenshot:

Unfortunately, IDAutomation cannot troubleshoot your query data for you. The software can only take the data that is provided to it and encode that data to become the barcode. The barcode software will not add or change the data, only convert the data given to it to a string of uppercase letters for the font to be applied. You will need to verify that the data being pulled in is the correct data, and this would be outside the scope of IDAutomation support. If the query is pulling incorrectly, this would be an issue you will need to take up with SAP Crystal Reports.

Multiple copies of the same report would not affect the barcode itself. If Crystal Reports is pulling data that the table query is not set to, then that would be an issue for Crystal Reports and not the barcode software.

I recommend that you take all of the steps I recommended below to hard-code your data and then review the data in the queries that you are returning, if the hard-coded data is correct. Additionally, you need to verify that you are using the font formula installation with the newly purchased files and not an old UFL installation. If you are using a UFL installation, IDAutomation recommends that you delete that installation and replace it with the Font Formula.

Hello - I installed the files from the latest purchase on our server where both locations run crystal reports. At least I believe I did - is there a way to verify I have the correct files installed? The data matrix is pulling data from a query within Crystal. That is what is odd the field is the same in the data matrix has it is in the text field. If multiple copies of the same report are running would they interfere with each other?

Hello Julie,

I see that you upgraded your licensing in March 2025 from a Single Site to a Developer license, and so you should have all new files for your Data Matrix Font and Encoder Suite. Unfortunately, IDAutomation cannot troubleshoot your table data if the software is retrieving data from a table. Below are the items we will need to know and the steps to take to start troubleshooting this issue for you.

1) Is this report using your old licensing for the Single Site, or is it one of the new sites that you installed?
2) When you installed the Data Matrix barcodes, did you use the recommended Barcode Font Encoder Formulas for Crystal Reports installation method? If not, which installation method did you use?
3) If this is for your original site, did you replace that installation with the new files from the latest order?
4) Does your Data Matrix barcode pull the data from a table or more than one table?
5) If the Data Matrix barcode is pulling data from tables, try replacing that table data with hard-coded data. Does the Data Matrix barcode generate correctly using hard-coded data?
6) If your test with hard-coded data is successful, try generating the data with one table at a time to locate the table where the data is not pulling correctly. If you discover a table that is not pulling data correctly, unfortunately, that will be up to your internal teams to troubleshoot the data in that table.
