Data Matrix Barcode Font Skewed In Deployed Report


We are having trouble with our Crystal Reports deployment using the latest Crystal runtime.

This is what we see when creating a DataMatrix barcode font in our deployed report:

As you can see from the above, the right-hand side two vertical sections have a smaller module size than the left two. This leads to a decrease in the x-axis length, throwing it off.

It runs perfectly in the crystal designer locally.

After communication with the client, the following was found:

Issue:
The client was:
• Imposing untested limitations directly to the DataToEncode – This had an unforeseen skewing effect on the barcode formation.
• Trying to feed in data greater than the specifications allowed for a given Data Matrix size.

Solution:
The client was advised:
• To remove the limitations directly to the DataToEncode and retest the limitations.
• To review the Data Matrix Format Specifications and their given data capacities, as exceeding the capacity forces the use of the next Format Number.

Result:
A correctly formatted Data Matrix barcode:
