ASCII Table Clarification

I am trying to encode the Ctrl character in a Data Matrix barcode, but when I try anything in the form ~dXXX and have ProcessTilde (or ApplyTilde) on, I cannot encode Ctrl.

I thought (because of the following statement) that I could do so:

The ^ in the Char column refers to the control key. For example, pressing CTRL-G sends ASCII 7 to the PC and creates a bell sound.

Can you clarify what is going on?

Operating System: Windows, Mac, or Unix/Linux

Unless your scanner possesses the ability to emulate certain keyboard functionality (also known as a keyboard wedge), Ctrl cannot be encoded in the barcode itself.

The leftmost column in the ASCII Table (for values below ASCII 32) gives the keyboard equivalent of what you would press to create the character in the rightmost column.

For example, pressing Ctrl + M (^M) will output a Carriage Return (CR), as shown here:

To accomplish the same thing in a barcode, you could encode one of the following in the DataToEncode value (with ApplyTilde, ProcessTilde, or ProcTilde enabled):
• Linear/1D barcodes: ~013
• 2D barcodes (DataMatrix, QR-Code, or PDF417): ~d013
